I've always over analysed everything I've ever gotten my hands on. It dosn't even have to be a work of fiction as I'll over analyze news stories and even my own life. Just ask my mom how I drive her NUTS talking about shows and books and things that she just dosn't get or care about.
I began watching My Little Pony Analysis videos on YouTube a few months back and my anoyingness reached new heights (according to mom) while I fangirled over the fact I'm NOT ALONE when it comes to over thinking things. DigiBrony and BronyCurious make me look TAME in comparison with some of there videos.
Recently mom has threatened to turn off the wifi so I couldn't get online to watch anymore analysis videos so I tried to shut my mouth on the MLP analysis stuff. But then a few things happened that just made it so much worse. As any of my fans on LJ, DA, and FB know my family owns a camper and we go camping on a pretty regular basis. The last few years we have gotten pretty irritated with the new owners of the campground we've been going to for 7 years and we finally made the move to a new place that is about an hour further away. Since we made the move so late in the season we decided not to take the satellite dish out since we'd just have to bring it back a few weeks latter (ya. we totally rough it). So I've had to entertain myself and what better way than to marathon my favorite episodes of Supernatural seasons 1-5? Surprisingly, mom was pretty ok with watching the episodes with me on the TV vs making me watch them on my laptop.
Unlike most people and there relationships with there parents my mom and I are really close, almost to the point of being best friends except my mom never forgets shes my MOM first and friend second. That being said we actually have very similar tastes in fiction and usually end up watching TV together so I was really glad for the opportunity to get mom interested in a series that I really love. Sadly, I think my new found love for analysis videos pushing my innate analyzing self over the top made this pretty much impossible. I sat threw each episode pointing out what was good and what was bad. Mom actually told me if I didn't stop it I couldn't watch my DVDs on the TV anymore.
So thats when I started thinking; if Digi and the others could do SOOOOO much with a half hour long show about candy colored ponies meant for 5 year old's, what could I do with an hour long show about a pair of brothers that are destined to be the vessels for the Apocalypse (literally and figuratively)? And when I got down to it, I actually had a lot to say. I'm not saying what I have to write is EPIC and AMAZING and PERFECT; I'm just saying I have a lot to say.
I've already written 6 or 7 reviews from season 1 and I'll be starting this blog with my review for the first episode of season 9 (which is over 3,00 words long! :D ).
That being said, this ISN'T a strictly Supernatural analysis blog. I'm a big fan of the new My Little Pony series and the reason I've gotten into analysis blogging is because of the MLP fanbase. When season 4 of MLP starts in November I plan to share my thoughts on those episodes as they come out just like the SpN episodes but as for going back and reviewing older episodes, probably not. Because each and every MLP:FiM episode has been reviewed and analyzed by a million people I'd just be restating what half a dozen people have said already. I have found a few things that I can say about old episodes but they're few and far between and actually seem more like character analysis vs episode analysis.
I'd also like to look at some other shows like Gravity Falls, Dreamworks Dragons, and maybe even another HUB show Pound Puppies.
As for the name: Draenei are a playable race in the MMORPG World of Warcraft and is the race I tend to fall back on when playing Alliance. The Draenei are referred to as squid faces and space goats because, well, here:
Not Mine!
So thats my intro. I hope you stick with me and have fun reading what I have to say about some pretty epic TV shows.
